The Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines hosts the UArctic Regional Centre Continental Europe via the Institut de recherches arctiques Jean Malaurie (IRAM). It fosters and promotes unique and relevant educational opportunities for Northerners and continental Europeans through collaboration and academic exchange and increases the visibility of Arctic studies and research at European level.
The Regional Centre was established on October 17, 2024 in Reykjavík, Iceland, at the 2024 Arctic Circle Assembly.
Main objectives:
- Participate in and improve UArctic objectives
- Fostering and promoting unique and relevant educational opportunities
- Building, sharing and applying knowledge through members' contributions and collaborations
- Participating in UArctic's goal of growth and dynamic membership
- Securing resources to boost productivity and capacity
- Increase the visibility of Arctic studies and research at European level.
- Forge links with and between Arctic research institutes and consortia in Continental Europe and the Arctic.
- Participate and coordinate, when relevant, efforts to submit proposals for funding under ERASMUS+ and the Horizon programme.
- Provide a forum for debate on the Arctic in Continental Europe.
