Climate Justice in the Arctic

The focus of this thematic network is climate justice, understood as a recognition of humanity’s shared responsibility for the disproportionate impacts of climate change on the most vulnerable and marginalised communities, in and related to the Arctic.

Goals

The overall goal of the Thematic Network on Climate Justice is to:

  1. facilitate and enhance interdisciplinary research on climate justice, and
  2. promote collaboration and knowledge exchange in education and research on climate justice across Arctic and global contexts.

The goals of the Thematic Network include:

  • Fostering research partnerships and collaborations on climate justice and related areas, including social, economic, political, and environmental dimensions of climate change and their impacts on vulnerable and Indigenous communities in the Arctic and beyond.
  • Supporting the dissemination of research findings and public engagement on climate justice, highlighting the implications of climate change for human rights, equity, and sustainable development.
  • Encouraging educational collaboration and exchange through joint teaching, curriculum development, and capacity building that advance understanding of climate justice and its diverse applications.
