On 1 August 1967, the Royal Charter was granted, and the University of Dundee was formally established. The University of Dundee is one of Scotland’s leading universities, offering world-class degrees in a wide variety of subjects. The University has over 20,000 students and 3,000 staff, representing around 150 different countries across the world, making Dundee a truly global institution.
We offer undergraduate, taught postgraduate, and research courses in a wide range of subjects, with a focus on teaching traditional and professional degrees using innovative approaches. Most of our courses are led by research, with students learning from those on the cutting edge of their discipline.
We are one of the UK’s top 30 universities (the Times Higher Education 2023 rankings) , ranked 242nd in the world, 29th in the UK and 4th in Scotland, and we are recognised for our high standard of learning.
The University of Dundee has been confirmed as one of the UK’s leading research centres for biological sciences, according to the results of the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021). 84 per cent of our research assessed as 'world leading' or 'internationally excellent' in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021.
We also have some of the best levels of graduate employment worldwide – in fact, we are one of the top 200 universities in the world for graduate employment rate (QS World University rankings 2022)
