Since 1998 Barb has been on the staff at the Center for Global Change and Arctic System Research (CGC) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). Besides providing support for the CGC's core activities, over the years Barb has assisted with their many related activities, which have included the Arctic Division office of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the Science Management Office for the National Science Foundation's Land-Atmosphere-Ice Interactions (LAII) program, and the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment (ACIA) Secretariat. In addition, CGC staff provide ongoing support to the Cooperative Institute for Arctic Research (CIFAR), a joint effort between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the University of Alaska.
Originally from California, Barb earned a B.A. in Geography from the University of California, Davis. She has made Fairbanks her home since 1990.
Barb is already making valuable contributions to the UArctic Office for IPY Higher Education and Outreach.
She is a most welcome addition to the University of the Arctic.
