Arctic Council meets in Haparanda

On 14 and 15 November, 2012 Senior Arctic Officials, representatives of the Arctic Council’s Member States, Working groups, observers -- including the University of the Arctic -- and organisations for Indigenous peoples met in Haparanda. Sweden holds the Chairmanship of the Arctic Council until May next year. The focus over the coming months will be to bring the Chairmanship’s and the Arctic Council’s priorities to a successful conclusion before handing over the Chairmanship to Canada.
