The indigenous peoples of the world met at the summit "Rio +20"

Exactly 20 years ago, in 1992, Brazil hosted the first such meeting, which was called the "Earth Summit." A joint plan was adopted to fight poverty and protect the environment in the 21st century - "Agenda 21." Also, 1992 was an important milestone in the international activities of the indigenous peoples who have joined forces to fight for their rights.Through this work, a decade later,  the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues began its work, and saw the adoption of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in 2007.
