4th Polar Shipping Summit Montreal 14th March 2013
ACI is pleased to announce the after conference workshop, taking place on
14th of March 2013 in Montreal, Canada and focusing on Arctic present special problems with respect to search and rescue, marine response, salvage and
pollution countermeasures in harsh environment as well as poor communications and lack of capability of the coastal state in the region.
These issues, as identified by the Arctic Council and the Arctic Marine shipping
assessment, need practical analysis and the goal of this workshop would be to
develop thinking around these activities and learn how to build and increase both capability and capacity.
The session would bring together a variety of public and private partners to address these issues and marine response exercise will be held to identify these issues.
The subjects covered include:
~ Salvage-private sector interests
~ Search and rescue-safety of life
~ Pollution countermeasures
~ Role of the flag state
~ Use of vessels of opportunity
~ Communications problems in the region
~ Space based AIS
