Ken Coates, University of Saskatchewan professor and UArctic Thematic Network on Northern Governance Vice-Lead, has written a piece in the Globe and Mail examining "Why are Canadians ignoring the 'North below the North'?" While attending the Arctic Frontiers conference in Tromso, Professor Coates points out that Canadian political attention has focussed on the high Arctic, while ignoring pressing issues in the northern regions of the provinces.
