The Congress keynote speakers featured, among others, Aron Cronwell, director of the Arctic Studies Centre at the Smithsonian Institution and Perry Eaton, a well-known artist and advocate of indigenous cultures. Cronwell's address focused on museology northern cultures and issues around canonicalization. Eaton stressed the importance of knowledge of places and nature with respect to the interpretation of Indigenous art in Alaska.

The symposium was arranged in collaboration with the University of Alaska Anchorage and the University of Lapland.

Arctic Sustainable Arts and Design Network's annual exhibition

The exhibition centred on the theme of Culture, Community and Communication was held at the Kimura Gallery and featured the work of 24 artists from the USA, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Scotland and Finland.

Workshops for students and ASAD members

The student workshop was directed by university teacher Elina Härkönen, the Bachelor and Masters level workshops with students cooperation between the University of Alaska Anchorage and the University of Lapland. In addition, indigenous groups and cold war workshop led by ASAD member academics from Shetland College / University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) in Scotland.
