This joint UArctic event is designed to promote wellness at work and strengthen our sense of community. The running events for staff and students are a 10K, half marathon and full marathon. Nordic walkers can do a 5K or 10K. Each event has separate men’s and women’s categories. Participants pay their own costs. The entry fee covers digital timing and results services, hydration stations along the route and a UArctic Marathon t-shirt. After the race, runners and walkers are offered free admission to the city pool (Vesihiisi) and a free meal.
Those who are not able to attend this event are challenged to put together a UArctic team and have a simultaneous event across the Arctic. These can be then shared online on UArctic facebook
The three top male and female finishers in each event will receive high-quality products made in Lapland. Every participant in the UArctic Marathon automatically becomes an entrant in the Rovaniemi Marathon, which will award prizes of its own to the top competitors.
Everyone who would like to take part in the UArctic Marathon should sign up via this link by 29 June.
