The UArctic Thematic Network on Communicating Arctic Research, also known as SubZero, has just launched their new website at sub-zero.org. The new website introduces the purpose of the network and the people behind SubZero, and most importantly features several visual projects done within the framework of the Thematic Network.

The common aim of the projects, as well as the whole Thematic Network, is to visualize environmental change and show how science and art can work together to increase public awareness of environmental issues. In addition to these projects, the website presents associated work by individuals from the larger SubZero collective. In the coming weeks, the Thematic Network will also share more information about their current activities.

The Thematic Network on Communicating Arctic Research links professional photographers, information-visualization specialists and art students together with students of science, Arctic researchers, holders of traditional knowledge, and scientists. The network provides education and training in photo-based imaging and data visualization tools and methods to create photo, video, infographics and related materials, and also builds capacity and practical skills amongst the science and research community to produce the best quality and the most practical imagery for their research needs.

The work of the Thematic Network is supported by UArctic and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

Read more about the SubZero network and collective and their projects at sub-zero.org. Also take a look at the Thematic Network's pages on the UArctic website.
