New UArctic Thematic Network on Migration in the Arctic meets in Stockholm

The Arctic Centre University of Lapland, Nordregio, University of Akureyri and Chiba University are creating a new UArctic Thematic Network on Migration in the Arctic. Migration and population change across the Arctic during the past, present, and to the future have been and will remain key aspects of the quality of life in the region.

We feel that it is time to bring together scholars, policy makers, and practitioners involved with issues of Migration in the Arctic.

We would like to invite you to take in a workshop at Nordregio in Stockholm on 19 September 2016. The first part of the workshop will be dedicated to presentations related to the theme of Arctic Migration. We ask that people make a short presentation about their research on the theme of Arctic migration. The second part will be devoted to the annual meeting of our new research group where we will discuss the establishment of a new UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Migration. We will also discuss presentations on the theme of Arctic migration at the International Congress of Arctic Social Sciences which will be held on 8-12 of June 2017 in Umeå, Sweden. A dinner of all participants will follow the workshop.

Please let us know by 12 September if you are interested in attending by emailing Nafisa Yeasmin (Nafisa.Yeasmin@ulapland.fi). You will need to make your own travel and hotel arrangements but there are many nearby hotels and numerous flight connections to Stockholm.
