In addition to introductions by SPbU and UArctic staff, the Student Forum participants will hear presentations and lectures from various scientific experts and dignitaries, have their own round-table discussions and case studies, and also meet students from local universities to talk about the development of the Arctic region. In addition there will be a complete cultural and scientific program that includes visits to local museums, science centres, and the icebreaker Krasin. The Student Forum will also meet with the Rectors' Forum and present their response to the joint UArctic Congress Declaration, ensuring that the students' voice is heard.
The opening sessions of the Student Forum received welcoming words from Lars Kullerud, UArctic President, as well as Vice-Rectors Sergey Aplonov and Aleksey Zavarzin of St. Petersburg State University. UArctic Student Ambassador Andrian Vlakhov, a recent graduate of the European University of St. Petersburg serves as a moderator of the Student Forum.
The Student Forum brings together students from various UArctic member institutions located in the Arctic and beyond. Traditionally held in association with the annual UArctic Rectors’ Forum, the Student Forum is an excellent opportunity for students from UArctic member institutions to meet and discuss important issues, to learn from each other, and to present their views on current issues.
