The University of Alaska Fairbanks and the University of the Arctic are pleased to announce The Arctic Broadband Forum 2017 which will be held in Fairbanks, Alaska, USA, May 8-9, 2017, not 2016.

The first ever UArctic Congress is being held in St. Petersburg, Russia, September 12-16, 2016 hosted by St. Petersburg State University. Final preparations are being made and we are looking forward to seeing you all at the biggest UArctic meeting to date, with over 500 registered participants.

Each year the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. Recipients are selected by the awarding body, the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS).

The UArctic Thematic Network on Communicating Arctic Research, also known as SubZero, has just launched their new website at sub-zero.org. The new website introduces the purpose of the network and the people behind SubZero, and most importantly features several visual projects done within the framework of the Thematic Network.

The chairmanship of Arctic Council will be forwarded from the USA to Finland early 2017. UArctic and our network will play an important role in that and the symposium will be an important check point in the planning process.

The Call for proposals for the Nordic Master programme is now open until 22nd September 2016. The Nordic Master (NM) is the Nordic Council of Ministers’ funding programme, which offers financing for joint Nordic Master’s programmes based on research, excellence and high quality.

The deadline for submitting the proposals is Thursday 22nd September 2016.
