UArctic’s Indigenous Issues Committee and Nominations Committee meet in Umeå, Sweden

ICASS-IX, Plenary - Extractive Resources Development and Sustainability in the Arctic

Chaired by Krister Stoor of Umeå University and Barry Scherr of Dartmouth College, respectively, the meetings were held in connection with the 9th International Congress of Arctic Social Sciences (ICASS IX), June 8-12, 2017.

As Committees of the Council of UArctic, the Nominations Committee’s main responsibility is to oversee UArctic’s key nominations processes; and the Indigenous Issues Committee’s mandate is to oversee and provide advice on all matters pertaining to indigenous issues that relate to the activities of UArctic.

Both committees made key decisions and contributed to proposals, which will go forward for review by the members of the Council of UArctic, during the upcoming Council Meeting 2017 in Nuuk, Greenland, August 15-17.
