ASAD network invites abstracts for 'Arts in the Arctic' book

The book 'Arts in the Arctic: Contemporary and Historical Perspectives' is going to be needful and timely review of arctic arts. The book will cover a wide range of topics of current concerns in indigenous studies, art history and interdisciplinary research. The deadline for abstracts is on June 8, 2018.

The aim is to highlight new and critical interpretation of arctic arts. We invite professors and scholars in the Arctic Sustainable Arts and Design network within the UArctic to propose articles for the book. Both indigenous and non-indigenous perspectives are included.

Emphasis is placed on contributions that reflect on:
- How Arctic artists reflect the Arctic change
- How Artic artists presents the Arctic nature and culture

The editors of the book are professor Tuija Hautala-Hirvioja, professor Timo Jokela and Doctor of Arts Maria Huhmarniemi from the University of Lapland. The book will be illustrated well to serve academics and general public. The book will be launched in the Arctic Arts Summit 2019 in Rovaniemi, Finland.

The editors invite an abstract (no more than 500 words) of the proposed article. Deadline: Friday 8 June 2018
