University of Lapland confers honorary doctorates on UArctic friends and representatives

Among the 18 Honorary Doctors are Prince Albert II of Monaco, a long-time supporter of UArctic activities; Professor Oran Young, the first Chair of the Board of UArctic; and Professor, Vice-Rector Jan Borm, UArctic Council representative of Research Centre CEARC - University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines

The fifth ceremonial conferment of degrees at the University of Lapland will take place May 15-18, 2019. Honorary doctorates are awarded as a recognition of significant contributions to science or art. The University of Lapland confers honorary doctorates on selected persons who have developed the university's research and teaching activities, advanced their international collaboration, or disseminated knowledge on Lapland’s culture and businesses. The title of Honorary Doctor is the highest academic recognition awarded by universities.
