The Northern (Arctic) Federal University and the Northern Department of Hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring organizes the project. The Arctic Floating University is an annual scientific and educational marine expedition that unites students and scientists in the study of the Arctic. For scientists, this is an opportunity to conduct research in the high-latitude Arctic. For students, this is a unique educational program, which includes an interdisciplinary course of lectures and practical classes conducted by experienced researchers.
The expedition of 2019 will be held from June 22 to July 11 on the research ship – icebreaker "Professor Molchanov" along the route from Arkhangelsk via the Kola meridian" transect, Barentsburg (Spitsbergen), Longyearbyen, Pyramid, Ny-Ålesund, Ny-London, Admiralty peninsula (Novaya Zemlya), Arkhangelsk (as agreed with organizers, corrections can be made upon request of participants before expedition).
The project will be attended by 58 students, postgraduates, researchers of Russian and foreign scientific and educational institutions. Partners in the project are the national Park "Russian Arctic", MSU. M. V. Lomonosov, Arctic and Antarctic research Institute, University of Geneva, University of Lausanne, Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne, Harbin Engineering University.
Natalia Ignatova will be the first representative of Ukhta State Technical University in the "Arctic floating University". Her research interests are related to Arctic projects, and the expedition is a unique opportunity for her to gain new knowledge and take part in current research.
