The European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they may still be consolidating their own independent research team or programme. Application deadline: February 4, 2020.

The University Centre of the Westfjords (UW) has received funding from the Nordic Council of Ministers Ocean Working Group for a project entitled “Plastics in commercial fish stocks of Norway, Iceland and Faroe Islands.”

The event is organised by the UArctic Thematic Network on Teacher Education and the UNESCO/UNITWIN Network on Teacher Education and will be held at the FERA Conference in Joensuu, Finland, November 21, 2019.

By increasing their support for UArctic's north2north mobility program, Norway aims to get the whole country more engaged in find solutions for northern challenges, and contribute to growing expertise in Norway as well as in other Arctic countries through knowledge exchange. 

Due to changes in the legal status of University of the Arctic, the new Thematic Networks for 2020 will be endorsed in February 2020. This means that the procedure of the new proposals will be handled from the end of 2019 - early 2020.

The International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) and the Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna (CAFF) Working Group of the Arctic Council, in cooperation with the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS), are excited to announce several Fellowship programs.

Professor Jeffrey Welker from the University of Oulu and the University of Alaska Anchorage alongside with 30 co-authors from UArctic affiliated institutions and research groups just published a paper on the large loss of CO2 in winter observed across the northern permafrost region.

Nafisa Yeasmin, the lead of UArctic's Thematic Network on Arctic Migration, has received the Academic of the Year award granted by the Finnish Union of University Researchers and Teachers (FUURT).

The third Arctic Science Ministerial(ASM3) will take stock of the progress made by the international community up to 2020. ASM3 will be held in Tokyo, Japan on the 21st and 22nd of November 2020 and will be co-hosted by Iceland.

The webinar "The Emerging Concern for Indigenous Language Education in Public Education in Canada" was organized in collaboration with UArctic Thematic Network on Teacher Education and UNESCO/UNITWIN network on Teacher Education. The webinar contributed also to UN International Year of Indigenous Languages 2019.

The 10th All-Russian Congress with international participation “Ecology and Human Health in the North” will be held on November 11-15, 2019 in Yakutsk.
