Project aim and project partners
ConnectED is led by the University of the Faroe Islands and linked to the UArctic Thematic Network Teacher Education for Social Justice and Diversity in Education. The project partners are University of Lapland, University of Alaska Anchorage, UiT The Arctic University of Norway, University of Aberdeen, University of Prince Edward Island and the University of Iceland.
The project aims to create connections between early career scholars and researchers across the Arctic by organizing a series of researcher visits. The target audiences of the project are doctoral students and early career scientists, senior researchers, partner universities and the Arctic educational science community.
Creating connections
The project was launched with an introductory meeting in November 2021. Project manager Kalpana Vijayavaratha from the University of Faroe Islands has described the activities:
"There were a couple of online meetings to establish connections, decide on destinations and discuss project details with minutes of the meeting shared with project members. Most of the communication has been via emails, so there is a trail to rely on for information. The project partners seem motivated and excited by the opportunities that lie within the ethos of this project."
Furthermore, the project has made some positive progress:
"Detailed planning of researcher visits have taken place for the partners for whom visits were fast approaching. Two project members – Iceland and Norway have already had the exchange visits in May 2022 and June 2022 to Scotland and Iceland respectively. The feedback is positive."
The project will continue as many project partners will have visits in 2023 - we are looking forward to following the project!
