Mark your calendar! Peatland restoration workshop in Manitoba 23-24 June 2022
A Peatland Restoration Technology Transfer Workshop will be held in Manitoba (Winnipeg area, Canada) on June 23-24, 2022. The workshop is organized by the Peatland Ecology Research Group (PERG) in collaboration with the Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss Association (CSPMA) and Sun Gro Horticulture.
It is intended for anyone involved in planning, implementing or evaluating peatland restoration projects. The workshop will focus on restoration of ombrotrophic and minerotrophic peatlands with an emphasis on active rewetting management.
The first day will be an indoor session with seminars where discussion is encouraged.
On the second day, we invite you in the field, in a disturbed peatland, to see how to properly rewet a peatland, what type of vegetation to spread depending on the type of peatland, good practices for harvesting donor material, how to effectively apply a protective mulch and more!
