The successful candidate will work on development and implementation of process modeling of hydrological and biogeochemical fluxes within river and aquatic systems in Arctic environments. The appointment is affiliated with the Beaufort Lagoons Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) and NASA ABoVE.

Project goals center on quantifying the timing and magnitude of terrestrial water, carbon, and energy exports to coastal zones and assessments of the impacts of climate change. There will be opportunities to develop and pursue novel hypotheses in the context of project goals. This is a two-year appointment with continuation contingent on satisfactory performance. Anticipated start is August 2022.

Postdoctoral scholars are required to have completed a doctoral degree no later than at the time of the appointment decision.

Essential qualifications include a background in earth system science, geography, ecology, physics, or a related field; and experience in developing, testing, and implementing hydrology or land surface models

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with Fortran, C/C++, R, Python, or ArcGIS/QGIS;
  • Experience in analysis and processing of large data sets;
  • Knowledge of the climate, hydrology, and biogeochemistry of Arctic environments; and
  • Excellence in research as demonstrated through publication of manuscripts in refereed journals and presentations at scholarly conferences.
