ARCUS- Arctic Research Consortium of the United States are searching for three applicants for Arctic Indigenous Scholars to travel to Washington, D.C. in February 2024 for an opportunity to meet with officials at U.S. government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other groups working on Arctic issues.
For this opportunity, ARCUS defines a scholar as an expert within their own knowledge system. This includes hunters, fishers, and gatherers. It includes youth, elders, and adults. A scholar’s education may have come from the land, the water, or a classroom.
Travel expenses and per diem will be provided. When the selected scholars have arrived, ARCUS will arrange meetings with officials at relevant agencies and organizations, where scholars will be able to share their interests, build toward collaborative relationships and provide perspectives to key decision-makers.
The program is supported by the National Science Foundation’s Division of Arctic Sciences.
