Workshop updates: Circumpolar Maternal and Child Health discussed the ‘Values Based and Culture Informed Health Services and Research in Circumpolar Maternal Health’
The Circumpolar Maternal and Child Health working group under the UArctic Thematic Network of Health and Well-being in the Arctic held its first workshop from the 2nd to 4th of June at the National Institute for Public Health (University of Southern Denmark) in Copenhagen.
The overall topic for the workshop was ‘Values Based and Culture Informed Health Services and Research in Circumpolar Maternal Health’. The workshop utilized community-based participatory methods and Sharing Circles in planning and during the workshop. Researchers, midwifes and Elders from Alaska, Canada, Greenland and Sápmi attended. Three plenary session were made publicly available online via Zoom. The workshop was a great success and brought forward important experiences, thoughts and ideas for setting a maternal and child health research agenda in the Arctic.
