Save the date: Celebration of the 30th anniversary of the UNESCO Routes of Enslaved Peoples Programme
UNESCO is pleased to announce that the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Routes of Enslaved Peoples programme will be held on Wednesday, 9 October, and Thursday, 10 October 2024, at UNESCO Headquarters.
This two-day event, open to the public, will bring together government representatives, civil society, artists, and scholars to reflect on UNESCO’s achievements in addressing the history and legacies of enslavement, while also providing recommendations to scale up actions. It will include a high-level ceremony in the evening of 9 October.
The list of activities undertaken throughout the year at both international and local levels to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Routes of Enslaved Peoples, under the theme "Constructing Equality, Healing, and Understanding.", is available at: https://unesdoc.unesco.org/ark:/48223/pf0000389177/PDF/389177eng.pdf.multi
