Following a hard-fought battle of 15 months with pancreatic cancer, he died surrounded by loved ones in Norwich, VT last Thursday. He is survived by his wife Sylvia, daughter Sonia, and son David.
Dr. Scherr was an integral part of the Dartmouth College community, where he had a career spanning 38 years. There he served in many leadership positions, including 8 years as provost. At UArctic, he is remembered with much admiration and gratitude for the contributions he made in his roles as a Board Member (2007-2013), Board Chair (2009-2013), and Nominations Committee Vice-Chair (2014-2020). He notably played an instrumental role in the development and implementation of UArctic's 2009-2013 Strategic Plan and was additionally involved in developing the Strategic Plan of 2020. What's more, he was a Friend of UArctic.
