Upcoming event - Arctic Security Dynamics: Comprehensive Security and the Canadian North
The Institute of Arctic Studies at Dartmouth will be hosting a talk on the complexities, considerations, and intersections of security in the Arctic.
Dr. Karen Everett is a senior research associate with the Louis-Edmond-Hamelin Chair, affiliated with the University of the Arctic, at Université Laval (Canada) and a Fulbright Arctic Initiative Scholar (2024-2026). Previously, Dr. Everett was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Université Laval, a Research Scholar with the Arctic Futures Initiative at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA, Austria), and she completed her PhD at the Frost Centre for Canadian Studies and Indigenous Studies at Trent University (Canada).
Her talk, Arctic Security Dynamics: Comprehensive Security and the Canadian North, is a timely examination of the complexities of security in the Arctic beyond traditional military concerns. She will further explore these different security considerations, how they intersect, and will identify some of the actors that may be in involved in the context of the Canadian North.
