As part of this collaboration between our two institutions the objective of the stay was to enhance and strengthen collaboration and knowledge transfer on shared projects and advisory work.
During the stay we had a unique opportunity to have several fruitful ad hoc meetings related to our daily advisory work, but also for a more strategic purpose. On a weekly basis we had meetings with the Environmental Agency for Mineral Resource Activities (EAMRA).
We initiated experimental work on terrestrial oil spill clean-up, including collecting sediment and oil for the work. This work will continue hereafter.
I conducted two workshops, which were well received:
a) Review of historical oil spill response documents in Greenland. The workshop was held at GINR with participants from GINR, DCE and EAMRA.
b) Workshop on the latest research on new low sulphur fuel oils in relation to effects and response options in the Arctic. The workshop was held at the Government of Greenland, with participants (> 12) from different departments.
