Students Traveled Thousands of Miles to Learn Arctic Business Firsthand

For the second year in a row, Nord University’s summer course Sustainable Blue Growth in the High North brought together a diverse group of students to explore one of the world’s most dynamic regions: the Arctic.

The one-week intensive course uncovers a sustainable blue economy in the context of Northern Norway. The course is activity-based with company visits and field trips to provide insights into how regional marine and maritime-related industries achieve blue growth in balance with environmental sustainability and for the benefit of local communities. In 2025, the course gathered 19 students from different countries such as China, Japan, the US, Germany, Poland, Turkey and many others.
