Two new residential advanced courses on high latitude marine science at Umeå Marine Sciences Centre in Sweden
In February 2026 Umeå Marine Sciences Centre at Umeå University in northern Sweden will offer two exciting residential advanced short courses for Masters, PhDs and postdocs! Advance your knowledge under the Arctic skies, surrounded by sea ice, with the chance to see the Northern Lights!
R course for marine scientists: One-week residential course for using R in marine science, with a focus on the Arctic, sub-Arctic and extreme environments. You will learn base R functions and data manipulation along with statistical analyses (basic statistics, multivariate, linear and nonlinear modelling) for marine biology, ecology and biogeochemistry!
Arctic marine biology, ecology & biogeochemistry: One-week residential course on Arctic marine and coastal biology, ecology and biogeochemistry, with a focus on coastal and open water Arctic marine environments, their ecology and biogeochemistry and fate in a changing world.
When? Starting 8 & 15 February 2026
