UArctic Board meets in Nuuk

The Board of UArctic held their autumn 2025 meeting on 2-4 September in Nuuk, Greenland. The meeting was held at the Ilisimatusarfik / University of Greenland.

The Board met with Greenland-based UArctic members to hear about their operations and UArctic-related activities. Presentations were given by Ilisimatusarfik, Greenland Institute of Natural Resources, Thematic Network on Health and Wellbeing in the Arctic and Thematic Network on Teacher Education for Social Justice and Diversity. It was highlighted, that the coordination of UArctic national funding from Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science has been transferred to Ilisimatusarfik in 2025.

After the members meeting, the Board continued with internal workshop on implementation of the Strategic Focus Areas. The Board internal meetings continued  discussing about recent developments in fundraising, budgeting practices and changes in UArctic leadership. Larry Hintzman of University of Alaska Fairbanks was appointed as the Vice-President International Polar Year.

The Board also had meetings with the Arctic Council Chairship team and Research and Education departments at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Research, as well as Inuit Circumpolar Council.
