Host a UArctic Chair
Help shape the future of Arctic research, education and cooperation
UArctic invites its member institutions to nominate and host a UArctic Chair: a
highly qualified academic who can serve as an international academic driver in
their field of expertise.
UArctic Chairs
• Build international research and education cooperation
• Strengthen competence and partnerships across the Arctic
• Support undergraduate, graduate, PhD, and postdoctoral development
• Act as strategic advisors and representatives for UArctic
• Are appointed for five years, with the possibility of renewal
Host institutions commit to:
Supporting approximately 20% of the Chair’s time for UArctic activities and
providing funding for at least two international trips annually.
Applications may also be submitted for Indigenous Fellows and UArctic Emeritus Chairs.
Who can be nominated?
Candidates should normally demonstrate full professor or equivalent competency,
strong international experience, and the potential to expand and complement the
expertise of the existing UArctic Chairs.
