Alun Hubbard - UArctic Chair in Cryospheric Science presented in award-winning docuseries "Islands of the Atlantic"

Alun Hubbard - UArctic Chair in Cryospheric Science at the University of Oulu and Professor of Glaciology at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, presented in the final episode of the award-winning docuseries "Islands of the Atlantic", which is now being broadcast across Europe following its release in the United Kingdom last autumn.

The series, presented by Martin Clunes, explores island environments across the Atlantic. Hubbard joins him for a hike onto the margin of the Greenland ice sheet offering insight into the dynamics and impacts of climate change.

Reflecting on the experience, Hubbard says "Martin is just the loveliest of guys. Of course, he's famous (in Britain - at least) for his early years in the 1990s sitcom "Men behaving badly", and though he's certainly grown up since then, that cheeky school-boy, and fun-loving persona is still very much a part of him - we hit it off well! He is now a leading figure promoting conservation, the environment and animal welfare. It was real pleasure and privilege to hang out with him on the Greenland ice sheet; we chatted about a whole host of topics, concerning Greenland, the state of the world but mostly our shared love of dogs, horses and classic cars!"

Hubbard’s contribution to the series highlights the importance of scientific research in understanding the rapid changes taking place in the Arctic.

The episode is now available to audiences across Europe, including via Finland’s national broadcaster.
