He joined the 2022 Arctic Circle Assembly as one of the My Northern Project participants, pitching his research topic in less than five minutes in the science popularization contest.

UArctic Chairs gathered in their first joint meeting at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik on October 12, 2022, in connection with the Arctic Circle Assembly.
On October 14, Marius Jonassen and Hanne H. Christiansen became the second recipients of the Frederik Paulsen Arctic Academic Action Award (FP Award). The award is a high-level recognition and a 100,000-euro grant given to a project that transforms knowledge into action, addressing the impacts of climate change in the Arctic.
