Extreme Loads on Arctic Structures Laboratory (ELAS)

ELAS specializes in studying the response of ship structures, including icebreakers, ice-strengthened ships, non-ice class ships, and naval surface vessels, to ice impact and extreme loads in Arctic conditions.

The Extreme Loads on Arctic Structures Laboratory (ELAS) is a cutting-edge research facility located on the 3rd floor of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. The laboratory is dedicated to investigating how ship structures respond to extreme conditions, with a primary focus on ice impact scenarios. ELAS conducts research on various types of vessels, including icebreakers, ice-strengthened ships, non-ice class ships, and naval surface vessels.
