University of Agder

University of Agder (UiA) is located in the southernmost part of Norway with campuses in Kristiansand and Grimstad. UiA received full university accreditation in 2007 but its academic activity dates back as far as 1839. Education and research span the fields of natural and engineering sciences, mathematics, business, social sciences, humanities, fine arts, health and educational sciences. The University offers 14 PhD specialisations, 33 master's programmes and 44 bachelor's programmes. Shorter study programmes, as well as lifelong learning courses, are also available. UiA meets regional demands for academically educated staff and research, and has close collaboration with industry in the region. The international focus is reflected in a strong presence of students, teachers and researchers from all over the world and the establishment of student exchange programs and international research collaboration.

Research priority areas are e-health and healthcare technology, integrated emergency management, mechatronics, multimodality and cultural change, coastal research. UiA also has a Centre of Excellence in Education – MatRIC Centre for Research, Innovation and Coordination of Mathematics Teaching. UiA also hosts a Centre for Research-Based Innovation: SFI Offshore Mechatronics in close cooperation with the Offshore Industry. UiA also offers one of the largest Teacher Education Programs in Norway.
