Intern at UArctic-International Secretariat Linda Lyberth Kristiansen, gave a speech at Arctic Circle Assembly 2023, in the session about Inuit Circumpolar Council Protocols for Equitable and Ethical Engagement.
Linda Lyberth Kristiansen talks about the importance of ethical research and the distinction of being an insider and outsider as an Indigenous researcher, in the session of “On Thin Ice – Why Equitable & Ethical Engagement with Inuit Needs to Become a Reality”, during Arctic Circle Assembly 2023 that was held in Reykjavik, Iceland.
The purpose of the panel discussion is to share about the recent ICC Circumpolar Inuit Protocols. Linda have been involved with the making of (EEE Protocols), during her previous internship at Inuit Circumpolar Council. She discusses her own experiences in the field of research, trying to get Inuit ideas in academia and systems that are not always accommodating for them as Inuit.
“Colonization isn’t just happening to us, but it’s also in us. I think that’s why it’s important to take our narrative back.” Linda states.
