UArctic Thematic Networks (https://www.uarctic.org/activities/thematic-networks-and-institutes/) form a framework for development of UArctic education and research providing an optimal structure for increasing the knowledge generation and sharing across the North. Empowered by local and Indigenous Knowledges and international level academic expertise, they facilitate development of multi- and transdisciplinary solutions for challenges in the Arctic.

Currently there are 60 Thematic Networks working on a variety of topics (https://www.uarctic.org/activities/thematic-networks-and-institutes/list-of-thematic-networks/ ). With your idea in mind, please check first if it is already included in one of the existing Thematic Networks. If so, it does give you and the existing Thematic Network an excellent opportunity to create a new cooperation and networking.

If the focus of the planned new Thematic Network is novel and not included in the existing Thematic Networks, now is time to be in touch with UArctic Vice President Networks Kirsi Latola and start to prepare the proposal. The guidelines for new thematic network proposals can be found at https://www.uarctic.org/activities/thematic-networks-and-institutes/establishing-new-thematic-network/ .

The deadline for the new Thematic Network proposals is February 28, 2025.
