The Verdde Indigenous Education Thematic Network, in collaboration with the UArctic Chair for Indigenous and Northern Education, Dr. Sylvia Moore, has announced the launch of the first-ever Indigenous Educators of the Arctic Conference, scheduled for February 2026. This groundbreaking event will bring together Indigenous educators, Elders, students, community leaders, and activists from across the circumpolar region to share knowledge, strengthen relationships, and support the advancement of Indigenous-led education.

A Call for Submissions is now open, with proposals invited from individuals both within and outside academic institutions. The conference welcomes a wide range of contributions, reflecting the diverse experiences and strengths of Indigenous education in the Arctic. The deadline to apply is January 7, 2026.

The conference also offers an opportunity for presenters to further prepare for the Sámi and Indigenous Education Conference 2026, taking place in Guovdageaidnu, Norway, from October 6–8 and hosted by the Sámi University of Applied Sciences.

Participation in the Indigenous Educators of the Arctic Conference is free, and individuals who wish to attend without presenting will be invited to register in early 2026.
