Micro Arctic Climates (MACS) Event: Arctic Science Summit Week 2026

Assw 2026

The Arctic Science Summit Week (ASSW) 2026 will be organized from 25 March - 1 April 2026 in Aarhus, Denmark by the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) and hosted by Aarhus University and the Forum for Arctic Research (FAF).

A half-day meeting is planned during this year’s Arctic Science Summit Week (ASSW) in Aarhus, Denmark, to advance the Micro Arctic Climates (MACS) concept. The meeting will also support the development of an application to the University of the Arctic for a new MACS Thematic Network focused on downscaling Arctic climate data and developing associated tools to enable local communities to conduct independent analyses.

There are strong links between Arctic and Antarctic microclimate research, as demonstrated at the PoleSTAH conference, and colleagues from the Southern Hemisphere are warmly encouraged to engage with MACS.

The meeting will be held on Monday, 30 March 2026, 15:00 – 19:00 CEST in a hybrid format, with both in-person and online presentations, and will conclude with a session designed to enable broad participation in planning discussions.

Please send your proposals by 28 February 2026.
