25 May – Welcome Home Reception

As a main sponsor of the UArctic Congress 2026 and the Ocean Connectivity Conference, Atlantic Airways warmly invites participants to an informal Welcome Home reception ahead of the Congress.

‍The reception will take place on 25 May at the national football stadium, Tórsvøllur, in Tórshavn city from 16:00–18:00. Guests can enjoy light refreshments while local artists set the tone with live music – a relaxed and welcoming start to the days ahead.

Participants will also have the opportunity to pick up their name badges at the reception.

26 May – Official Opening Reception

‍The Official Opening Reception will take place in the heart of Tórshavn on 26 May from 19:00–21:00. The celebration will take place primarily outdoors in Tórsgøta, where guests can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the city. There will also be the option to step inside the beautiful surroundings of Perlan and Reinsaríið, where some seating is available.

‍A generous selection of local dishes will be served, including fish soup and scallops to start, followed by grilled Faroese lamb and beef along with sides and vegan alternatives. Guests can also look forward to a sweet treat from a waffle stand. The evening will also feature live music, adding to the lively atmosphere. Guests can look forward to a distinctive Faroese sound blending traditional elements with a powerful, modern expression.

The Opening Reception is kindly sponsored by the Municipality of Tórshavn.

28 May – Ocean Night – Closing Reception

After three days of engaging sessions and inspiring keynote speeches, the Congress will conclude with the Ocean Night – a festive closing reception.

‍Faroese chef Gutti Winther has curated a menu featuring local specialties such as sugar-cured Faroese salmon and smoked mackerel, accompanied by fresh greens and seasonal elements. The menu also includes a traditional fish soup made with saithe, offering a taste of local Faroese cuisine. Guests will be welcomed with a glass of wine and non-alcoholic drinks. Bars will be open at the venue, Við Tjarnir, where additional drinks and beer can be purchased. The evening will be brought to life by a Faroese band known for their energetic and occasionally chaotic live performances.

The Ocean Night is kindly sponsored by Bakkafrost, who will provide the salmon served.

In addition to the social events, the Congress programme will feature a range of cultural elements throughout the week. Participants can look forward to experiencing Faroese music, traditions, and craftsmanship, offering a glimpse into the local culture alongside the academic programme.

Please note that participants are required to sign up in advance for receptions as part of the registration process.
