Open position: PhD Fellow in Border Studies
A PhD position is available at the Centre for Geopolitics, Peace and Security (GPS), Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education (HSL) in Border Studies, UiT The Arctic University of Norway. The workplace is at UiT in Kirkenes and Tromsø.
The objective of the position is to complete research training to the level of a doctoral degree. Admission to the PhD programme is a prerequisite for employment, and the programme period starts on commencement of the position. The PhD fellow position is for a period of three years and full time studies with the possibility of an extension of the appointment period.
The Position’s responsibilities
The successful candidate is expected to conduct research on topics related to Arctic borders and borderlands. The research aims to enhance our understanding of Arctic borders within the current geopolitical context. The PhD project should align with one or more of GPS's core focus areas: geopolitics, security, as well as peace and conflict studies.
The project must thematically align with UiT's strategy and the faculty's strategic long-term plan and be linked to a research group at the centre. The project should be academically relevant to the centre's research activities and capable of being supervised by staff at the centre.
