Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center

The Nansen Center pioneers understanding of the Earth system and science-based innovation and services for society within marine, cryosphere, and atmospheric research using observations, models, and data assimilation with focus on high latitudes and the Arctic region. NERSC is a project-based organisation, and our priorities are aligned with national and international research strategies and development programs, combining Earth System Science, Innovation, and Services, conducted through strategic partnerships and alliances at both national and international levels.

The Nansen Center is one of four partners in the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research located in Bergen. Norway, one of the leading climate research communities in Europe. It is also a shareholder and partner in Mercator Océan International located in Toulouse, France, developing  operational oceanography and marine services for Europe and Arctic within the European Copernicus Program.
