Jilin University
Jilin University (JLU), founded in 1946, located in Changchun, Jilin Province, China has 6,550 outstanding faculty members supporting its mission of research, teaching, and scholarship, offers 73,109 students a strong academic challenge in their undergraduate, master’s and doctorate study through teaching and research excellence.
JLU is a merger of six universities. On June 12th, 2000, the former Jilin University, Jilin University of Technology, Norman Bethune University of Medical Sciences, Changchun University of Science and Technology, and Changchun Institute of Posts and Telecommunications merged into the current Jilin University. On August 29th, 2004, the former University of Military Logistics also joined Jilin University.
Led by its global strategy: Student-centered, Research-oriented and Service Glocal, as one of the largest and most comprehensive universities in China, selected as Category A in China’s “Double world-class initiative”, JLU undertakes the responsibility in educating talents, leading most-needed research, transferring and applying education and research benefit in helping Northeast China become more resilient and revitalized, more sustainable, healthy and smart.
Jilin University has developed partnerships with 302 universities and scientific research institutions from 40 countries or regions and has established 42 International cooperative platforms with higher education and scientific research institutions from 12 countries, including good many UArctic members like University of Groningen (Netherlands), Alfred-Wegener Institute (Germany), Copenhagen University (Denmark) and Lomonosov Moscow State University (Russia). JLU is committed to providing students with overseas learning opportunities through 79 dual degree programs with many world-leading universities, encompassing a wide range of disciplinary categories, including chemistry, materials sciences, electronic science and engineering, life sciences, business, law, etc.
By virtue of the above guidance and mechanism, the progression of JLU global strategy proves to be efficient in enhancing the schools, scholars and students’ global understanding and their intercultural communication competence, increasing JLU’s international profile with extended global impact.
